Combining models and data (near real-time & historical) the COMESEP (COronal Mass Ejections and Solar Energetic Particles: forecasting the space weather impact) alert system generates automatically a series of coherent alerts after detection of CMEs and solar flares that may lead to geomagnetic storms and solar energetic particle (SEP) radiation storms. The alerts also include an estimate of the impact risk.

Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events can lead to an increased Single Event Upset rate in GEO and LEO orbits. Geomagnetic storms may disrupt satellite communication.

User interface: When one hovers with the cursor over an alert, a popup shows some basic information about the selected alert alert. Upon clicking on an alert, one sees a popup with additional information.
